From the beating heart

A record of a historic time, a global city in lockdown.  This visual love letter embodies the beating heart of the city, telling an emotional story of hope, beauty and pride. Sydney isn’t Sydney without every worker, tourist and Sydneysider that brings this iconic city to life, and we can’t wait until we can all return home.

A love letter

Bringing together creative minds and passionate hearts, the videos will be featured across a digital media campaign. Lendlease worked directly with Authority Creative and the artists to bring this cultural art project to life and continue to support the arts industry that has been so severely affected by Covid-19.

“It has been a privilege to collaborate with local artistic visionaries including Christopher Jhureea, Billy Zammit and Animals Feelings, who have so brilliantly told this story of hope, beauty and pride for our iconic city to life,” said Stanton. Over the coming months we will release further videos in the love letter series, continuing the story of Sydney’s beating heart coming back to life.

Speaking of the series, Jacqui Stanton, Retail Marketing Manager said, “The past 18 months have been crippling for our CBD, with businesses large and small impacted by forced closures across the city. Sydney isn’t Sydney without every worker, tourist and Sydneysider that brings this global city to life, and we can’t wait until we can all return home”.

Director & Videographer

Director Billy Zammit has always had an undying affinity for urban landscape and drama rich narrative. His creative eye naturally vignettes his personal experiences and self-reflection. The Streets of Barangaroo’s love letter embodies the beating heart of Sydney and the coupled contemporary dance partnership from performer Christopher Jhureea and the Barangaroo city skyline amongst the current pandemic. Showcasing the architectural progress and beauty in which only movement can emphasise.

The multi-part series starts with a powerful 60-second film capturing both the beauty and sadness of Sydney’s CBD, which laid dormant for months during lockdown. Authority Creative and Lendlease worked with Sydney-based dancer and choreographer, Christopher Jhureea who played the role of Sydney’s beating heart. His emotive and powerful movements begin to tell the story of (the emotions we have all been through during lockdown and) a new dawn breaking.
