‘Colour the Streets’ - A temporary public art installation by Lauren Webster

Each February in Sydney marks one of the most significant cultural festivals in the world. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Authority Creative was engaged by Lendlease to bring vibrancy and love to The Streets of Barangaroo.

The 50-metre acrylic rainbow canopy, comprised of over 1000 individual pieces of positive, romantic, whimsical and playful iconography. The installation was designed by local Sydney artist and illustrator Lauren Webster and unmistakable to her style.

Our team installed each delicate motif individually over the course of three days; ‘apple of my eye’ ‘heart’s on fire’ ‘somewhere over the rainbow’ ‘'til death do us part’ and ‘star-crossed lovers’ to name a few. The temporary public artwork formed an integral part of the annual celebration down at Barangaroo.

As always, we thank Lendlease and The Streets of Barangaroo for entrusting us to explore such enriching and fulfilling creative projects. And, of course, to our amazing artist and friend Lauren Webster for bringing our ideas to life in such a magical way.

We are proud to be involved in honouring the power and beauty of diversity.

For the community,

handmade,

with love.
